Paul Salamone had a show in Warsaw a couple months ago, and dropped in to talk to me. An interesting perspective, given he’s from New York state, has lived in Colorado and now resides permanently in Berlin, where he hosts regular shows and helps form and develop the local bilingual stand-up scene.
We talk about everything from doing graffiti as a teen, to migrating, performing, politics, gentrification and female-only comedy shows. Listen to the conversation, and check out his videos.
Nagrałeś To?!powraca do bardziej regularnego harmonogranu, spodziewajcie się odcinka po polsku wkrótce. Yuh nah fret.

Pete says: The goal behind these conversations is to find out more about stand-up comedy scenes around the world. To see how they are developing in particular countries. We can compare them and maybe learn a thing or two. Hopefully by the end of my one year trip we will have conversations from around the world.
Tin Voodopivec and Andrej Težak Tešky are established Slovenian comics. They were the first ones to do it in their country and have always been pushing the art foward. This year they celebrated the 8th year of the very popular Panč Comedy Festival (where I had the opportunity to perform). 7 days of stand-up in a beautiful venue. A god damn castle! With 5 comedians every night, national and international, and an average audience of around 600 people, it is fair to say to that this is one of the most important comedy festivals in the entire region and these guys are the ones bring it to you.
Marina Orsag is the mover and shaker of the comedy scene in the entire Balkan region. Not only is she a well established comedian, she is also currently running the only comedy club in Croatia, Studio Smijeha in Zagreb. Personally I can tell you that without Marina I would not have had half the shows I did. A very interesting person that has spent years in the business.

Rozmowa po angielsku (choć Jim nawet nieźle włada polskim, co również demonstruje).
The Famous Jim Williams: Jim’s a man of many talents and experiences, stand-up is just one of many. Also, the second father of two I’ve talked to, and it’s only season one.
Jim and I discuss things we know little about, as people do. Corporate structures, immigration, languages. But also things Jim knows about (and I don’t) – pantomime, clowning, making babies.
Jim has put together a lot of open mics and chances for other people to perform; I’m grateful for that. A seasoned performer and human being. He knows stuff and tells a good story, it was great having him on.
